We are pleased to announce that Andrea Liefer, DNAP, CRNA, is joining to serve as faculty and clinical scheduling coordinator. Her extensive experience in graduate education, along with her success as a clinical leader in our department, will provide a strong platform for this expanded leadership role. She officially begins her new position on October 1.
Since joining the Department of Anesthesiology at WashU Medicine in 2010, Dr. Liefer has demonstrated outstanding clinical expertise and leadership. She currently serves as Chief Pediatric CRNA at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where she has been instrumental in managing nurse anesthesia services in collaboration with anesthesia, surgery, and nursing administration. Her specialized expertise includes pediatric cardiac anesthesia for patients with congenital heart defects, providing comprehensive anesthetic care for pediatric patients across all age groups and ASA classifications.
Dr. Liefer brings exceptional qualifications and extensive experience to this dual role. She earned her Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) from Webster University in 2021, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She previously earned a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Dr. Liefer has served as Adjunct Faculty at Webster University since 2018, where she developed and instructs graduate-level pediatric anesthesia courses. She has co-led the pediatric educational series for Goldfarb’s Nurse Anesthesia Program since 2021. As Pediatric Clinical Coordinator for Goldfarb’s program since 2020, she has been responsible for orienting students, coordinating clinical assignments, and ensuring compliance with educational standards.
Her commitment to excellence in patient care and education, coupled with her collaborative approach to leadership, has been recognized through numerous honors, including CRNA of the Quarter and as a finalist for St. Louis Magazine’s 2025 Excellence in Nursing Awards in the Advanced Practice category. These strengths will be invaluable as we continue to advance our department’s mission.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Liefer on this appointment.
