The Department of Anesthesiology is delighted to announce that Jennifer Mahan has been selected as the 2024 Sandy Hawes Memorial Award recipient.
Mahan has worked as a staffing administrator in the department for eight years. In her role, she works closely with clinical leaders to ensure that OR staffing and operations run smoothly. She is also the fellowship coordinator for the Division of Trauma Anesthesiology and assists with the administrative and operational aspects of the program.
The annual Sandy Hawes Memorial Award was established to honor department members who possess excellent communication skills, are supportive in nature, well-poised, dedicated, and go above and beyond the call of duty—qualities that reflect Sandy’s distinguished career at Washington University in St. Louis. Mahan’s selection as a recipient of this award highlights her dedication to the department and her unwavering commitment to excellence.
“Jen Mahan is a true asset to the department and exemplifies the criteria of the Sandy Hawes Memorial Award,” said Director of Business Operations, Randall Stateler. “Jen is dedicated to the department, supportive of her colleagues, well-poised and definitely goes above and beyond the call of duty. Serving as an ‘air traffic controller’ for our adult operations at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Jen plays a crucial role that provides immense value on a daily basis.”
Congratulations, Jen, on this well-deserved recognition. Your dedication and tireless efforts truly embody the spirit of this award, and the department is grateful to have you as part of our team.
