Ashley Weinhold, MD, program director of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship in the Department of Anesthesiology, has been elected secretary of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Program Directors’ Association (PAPDA), a national organization dedicated to advancing pediatric anesthesiology fellowship education.
Weinhold previously served as an at-large director for PAPDA and now enters the organization’s leadership succession pathway, positioning her to ultimately serve as president. Her election marks a significant milestone for the division and reflects her longstanding commitment to pediatric anesthesiology education and trainee development.
Dolores Njoku, MD, vice chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, division chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology and anesthesiologist-in-chief at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, praised Weinhold’s election as a reflection of her impact on the specialty. “Dr. Weinhold is an exceptional educator and leader who is deeply committed to the success of our fellows and the future of pediatric anesthesiology. PAPDA is composed of pediatric anesthesiology program directors and other leaders involved in fellowship education. The organization serves as a primary source of educational and regulatory information for directors of ACGME-accredited pediatric anesthesiology fellowship programs. Through its mission, PAPDA promotes advanced clinical training in perioperative pediatric care with an emphasis on clinical excellence, lifelong scholarship, professional development, wellness and mentorship.
As program director of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship, Weinhold plays a key role in training the next generation of pediatric anesthesiologists. She is also a member of the pediatric pain team and is actively involved in mentoring trainees and advancing educational initiatives within the specialty.
Weinhold completed both her anesthesiology residency and pediatric anesthesiology fellowship training at WashU Medicine. She joined the faculty in 2016 and currently serves as an associate professor of anesthesiology.
